The Wall Street Journal: Justice Department urges judge to hold Trump’s legal team in contempt over Mar-a-Lago case

WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors urged a judge in a closed-door hearing Friday to hold Donald Trump’s legal team in contempt of court for failing to fully turn over all classified documents in the former president’s possession, a person familiar with the matter said.

Justice Department lawyers made the request of U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell in recent days, amid an escalating battle with Trump’s lawyers over whether he has surrendered all the documents he took with him when he left the White House. Investigators issued a subpoena for the records in May, and in August, executed a search warrant at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida believing he had not fully complied with the spring demand.
